i wonder what makes a gd leader? one needs what traits to be a respectful leader esp in the working society.. ever since i started to work, i concluded that whatever written in the textbook doesnt seem to be applicable in the real world. What i have learned to be a gd leader requires traits: patience, willing to teach, an eye for details, strong leaderships, understand the work processes well etc. Well.. i can frankly say that one doesnt have to accuqire such traits in order to be a manager.. all u need is a certificate - a gd degree and years of experiences in the industry. I met the typical example in my current work place. Haiz.. how unlucky i am. yes.. unlucky.
My manager is a fun person to be with if u are not working under her. her character is far less than a manager.. maybe u will say "wasnt it gd? in this way, u will not have difficult time to click with her." true enough, i have no problem in communicating with her most of the time.. but the impression that i have set in my mind of a manager is not lidat. wat i tot a amanger shld be - stern, serious, hardworking, willing to spend her precious free time to teach mi stuff since im so new to this industry. she did none in the above mentioned. im not saying she lacks of the ability and capability to deal with her work, she has ..but shes onli using less than 20% of her efforts. i wont say she lazy.. but she too much of a last min person.. lets say theres a meeting tomolo, she will get busy with the print out on the day itself - wth, all these materials are supposed to be nicely done the day before. And if u have meeting, why didnt u report early to inform the auntie so that she could prepare the drinks beforehand to avoid any delay?
i dun wan to make this entry as a complain entry but then.. the more i write, the more it seem to become one. my manager sets rules based on her own habits. i have no objections on that.. but since she has her own precuilar habits.. why cant i? "Do not disturb" tag seem to hang invisibly on her forehead and as if im a saint to see that. i have this perception that all managers are devoted to their work so much so that even they are willing to sacrifice thier lunch time. in reality.. is hard to find one of such sort. leave the lunch break aside.. seeking signature for paper document is inevitable even in this high tech world.. my manger demands us to put those document in a clear folder and to indicate the purpose of putting in her in-tray - e.g "please sign" or "for ur reference", then y cant she do the same in return.. dumping all documents in my in-tray which requires mi to figure what to do with it will end up wasting my time resources. i dun demand u to place the doc in folder.. all i asked for is a post-it on the doc indicating its use.
i have been under her charge for coming 4 mths (in 2 days time), i seriously dun seem to learn much and i wonder if shes reali that bz. she has super foul temper which i hate it to core.. she is extremely unapproachable every single morning. As a manager.. ur role is to guide ur suborinates and passing down ur knowledge.. she rather uses her free time to online, chat, and rest.. fine with mi if shes reali tired or not in the mood to teach, i understand that coz.. at times, im not in the mood to learn as well. BUT.. the issue is.. she never seems to have the right mood to teach. NEVER. i wont say she is unaware of my eagerness.. maybe she juz treat this attitude as most newbie will display.. so she will most of the time.. "act bz". working here is all abt printing.. accounting.. exceling.. tabulating.. which any O level students can do. trust mi.
enough.. lunch time.
